Thanks for visiting, I hope you are safe and well. I started building websites back around 2008.

That for a lot of people was a rough time,  just like these times are for a lot of people.

I’m a pilot, I’ve been flying for a long time now, but I figured I should work on some other skill sets, so I got into building out WordPress websites.

I highly recommend owning your name; which in itself has value.

Just because you don’t know how to build a website, doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t own a domain name.  There are other things you can do with it, aside from building out a site.

It’s super cheap to do so.  All you need to do is go buy one.  I have a recommended provider below.

I recommend at least securing your name.  I believe the .com extension is the best you can get.

My feeling is that the .live extension is the wave of the future.

There are hundreds of extensions you can get.  For example, .net, .org, .me, I could go on and on.  I love the .earth extension, just for the fact that you could have something like….. YourName@Name.Earth haha

At the very minimum, owning a website domain, with your name extension, allows you to be able to have a branded e-mail account, which is kinda cool.

When people ask you for your email address, it’s super easy for them to remember, all they need to do is remember your name.

After you buy your domain name, you can integrate it with an email management platform.  My preferred platform is Gmail.

I’ve integrated my email with G-Suite, and I have to say I’m blown away by all the features of G-Suite.  It’s an enterprise-level management tool that organizations, big and small should have.  For small business owners like myself, it’s empowering.

I’m also learning how to manage the G-Cloud Platform, and they even gave me a 300$ credit just to mess around with it.  Thanks, Google.

I may soon be moving all of my websites over to the cloud.

I hope to show you soon how to brand your email with your name and integrate it with Gmail.

You can then even integrate it with your iPhone, so you have all your email (even from different accounts), all in one place on your iPhone or Android device.

If you don’t have a domain name, you can go to Namecheap.com and get one.

I’ve been a customer with them for over 10 years and they are great.

Until we meet again.  Stay Safe and well,

Dave Spencer
